Reviews: KG "ReGrooves Vol. 1"

"I don't understand why people don't put out more records like this."
Turntable Lab (USA)

"There's something here for every stage of a club night, so DJ's will find themselves grabbing this record multiple times throughout."
Ground Lift Magazine

KIDGUSTO's fourth single (and the third on his own TRUE GROOVES label) is a dope 5 track EP of funky breaks and cut and scratch tracks. Check out "Rule That Train" for a sweet BEASTIE BOYS sampling reggae breaks jam. "Que Paso Ray" is a slick Latin breaks jam that would make FK5 and THE HERBALISER proud. This has to be one of the party beats 12"s of the year!
Inertia (Australia)

Huge edits are order of the day once more in particular the killer blend of Clint Eastwoods version of Stop That Train which has added breaks and a Beastie Boys vocal attached. And it doesnt stop there as Rhythm Heritages gargantuan 1975 break Theme From Swat gets a light touch up by SH and KG. This pair are reason enough to purchase but if you need more persuading checking the dubby disco of Part Deux.

This EP of radical funk breaks from Kidgusto further enhances the reputation of the Washington DC producer. "Walks Like Rex" is a mini megamix all of it's own with tremendous dancefloor scope, "Rule That Train" replays the Beastie Boys' "Caught In The Middle Of A 3-Way Mix" with extra chunks of Scotty's "Draw Your Breaks" (which the original samples) and "Rhythm Heritage" edits Rhythm Heritage's well worn break source "Baretta's Theme". These are just three of the five notable tracks on the 12".
